Packing Chronicles

As I embark on this next exciting journey (interning at a fashion company in NYC), I'm tasked with the ill fate of packing. If you are anything like me and seem to have a never-ending closet and drawers stuffed to no end filled with semi-organized clothes in a way that makes no sense to anyone else but you, somehow know where everything is... you understand my pain. What to pack, and what not to pack, is the question I ask myself each time I pass my open and overflowing suitcase I've been living out of since being back home from college.

So as I try to organize my own suitcase, and soon to be intern wardrobe, I figured I share my list I've complied and how I to plan to tackle the big question what to and what not to pack.

    • Black dress pants

    • Navy dress pants

    • Blue jeans

    • Black jeans

    • White jeans

    • Striped short-sleeved knit

    • Black cardigan

    • Grey/White cardigan

    • Black blazer

    • Navy blazer

If I haven't overwhelmed you just yet and you have found this list reasonable thus far, you've found your fellow overpacker community.

    • Denim midi dress

    • Black midi dress

    • A fun color or patterned midi dress

    • A comfy flowy midi/maxi dress

  • Shoes

    • Black heels/kitten heels

    • White heels/kitten heels

    • Clean & chic sneaker

    • A commuting/walking sneaker

    • 1-2 pairs of ballet flats

    • Some sort of slip-on sandal/flip flop

  • The fun extras

    • A black mini skirt

    • A little black dress

    • Something with sequins ofc

    • An everyday jacket

    • A fun/colorful jacket

    • 2-4 tanks, whatever color you feel suits you best

    • A swimsuit or two if you have a rooftop available

    • Another fun skirt, because why not

    • LINEN ANYTHING

    • 2-3 colorful blouses that can be dressed up or worn in the office

    • A tried and true knit crewneck

That my friends is what I will in the next 3 days ATTEMPT to fit in my suitcases that will be my wardrobe for these upcoming summer months. While some may look at this and find it daunting, as a fashion lover and enthusiast, I work well when I dress well, and you simply cannot be in New York City not feeling, working, or looking your best. Wish me luck, and I hope that my not-so-little list will serve as a guide for any of my peers and friends as we all step into this next journey.

I would also like to throw out there the link to the vacuum storage bags that have saved my life a time or two.

xoxo,

Blakely
